Kathie Boissiere, Watercolor Artist
What could be more satisfying than playing in beautiful puddles of color and watching what the paint does, then coaxing it into something you can call a piece of art? Watercolor, as a medium, is inspiring in itself because it has properties that make it unpredictable and just plain fun to use.
My aim is to create something that will make you, the viewer, want to linger and feel the same joy that I felt when making it. I want to capture the essence of each subject, place or moment. Recent travels in France have given me many wonderful images to paint.
It is a privilege to be an artist, and I have been blessed to inherit my artistic talent. My mother, Barbara, is a professional scrimshaw artist and my sister, Carolyn, is a gifted painter and quilter. I am, for the most part, self taught, and I have studied with notable artists such as Jane Hofstetter, Fank Webb, Miles Batt, and Al Brouilette.
Having painted professionally for twenty years, my paintings can be found in many collections in the U.S. and abroad. I live and work in Foster City, California and am presently represented by Kerwin Galleries in Burlingame, California (www.kerwingalleries.com), and Ryrie's Fine Art Gallery in Tahoe City, California. I am a member of California Watercolor Association and Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society.
I can be commissioned to do a specific piece if you have a special art need to fill. You can contact me at kb@kathieboissiere.com
